...Mark Your Calendars .... Early Learning Informational
Meeting, January 30th at 7:00 p.m. in Kane Hall.
The selection of an early childhood program for your child is one of the most important first decisions you will make as a parent. If your “school age” child is your first, you may be overwhelmed with options. If this is your last child to make the giant leap to student life, you know how expectations have changed over the last several years.
St. John Fisher School has a very strong early childhood education program. Our goal is to work together with parents to provide a positive and successful “first school experience.” Our preschool and kindergarten curriculum are aligned with the Archdiocese of Chicago Learning Standards. In the classroom, there is an emphasis on respect and learning to work cooperatively. While teachers set high expectations for students, they are also mindful of the individual needs of each child. Activities that occur within the classroom are diverse, and are designed to meet the needs of visual, auditory and kinesthetic learners. The school day is infused with hands-on learning experiences in the children’s early exploration of themselves and the world around them. Opportunities to experience the fine arts and utilize new technologies to enhance the learning experience are provided. Children begin to develop their Catholic identity. Social events and religious celebrations for children, parents and families make all feel part of the bigger St. John Fisher Parish community.
During the 2010-11 school year, we are providing enhanced opportunities for early childhood education at our school. Our commitment to provide a well rounded total education program for our students has prompted our faculty and school board to examine ways to make our program more affordable and expand the hours that will be available. We feel participation in a quality early childhood program should be available to all families for their children. With understanding of the increasing financial demands of young parents in a difficult economy, we have been able to make significant adjustments to our part-time student tuition scale. An excellent before- and after-school care program is also available from 6:00 a.m. to 7:50 a.m. and from 2:20 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Please visit the various links to learn more about the Early Learning Program at St. John Fisher School.
